Planting season may be over, but our new young plants are vulnerable to the coming summer heat and being overtaken by weeds! To protect them and the valuable, colorful home they provide to woodland critters and parkgoers in the heart of SeaTac, help us mulch around our plants! We’ll be filling buckets or wheelbarrows from large piles of mulch and carrying them over to spread around each tree, shrub, and fern from the past season. This will help them keep cool, moist, and free of encroaching weeds as they adjust to their new home in our park. We will also be digging out common weeds such as blackberry and ivy.

What to Bring

No experience is necessary! Please bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, sturdy, closed-toed shoes, long sleeves, pants, a water bottle, and any questions or suggestions you can think of! Restoration events happen rain or shine; check the weather and make sure to bring a rain jacket if needed. All other tools, training, and gloves will be provided.

Where to Meet

We will meet in the planting zone to the south of the parking lot in the northwest corner of the park, off Des Moines Memorial Drive. Look for a table with a sign-in sheet and a line of shovels or other tools on the ground.

Where to Park

Parking is available in the northwest corner of the park, off Des Moines Memorial Drive. Additional parking is available at Sunset Park located at 13800 16th Ave S. Park in the parking lot or along shoulder of 16th Ave S. and walk north to cross S. 136th Street. Look for event signage for assistance.
